Grammar explaination

You can use “AあいだにB” when you want to say “B while A”.

event B takes place in the middle of another event A

Verb dictionary form or te-form+ aida ni

■The patterns is below:

B takes place, while A = A (ている)あいだにB

Example sentences

彼氏が働いている間に寝ます。
I will sleep while my boyfriend is working.

日本にいるあいだに、日本人の彼氏とつきあっていた。
While I was in Japan, I dated with a Japanese guy.
