Meaning
“A-un no kokyū” (阿吽の呼吸) literally means “the breathing of A and Un.”
It describes a deep, wordless understanding or perfect harmony between people — when two or more individuals act in complete sync without needing to speak.
The phrase comes from Buddhist tradition — “A (阿)” is the first sound in Sanskrit and “Un (吽)” is the last.
Together, they symbolize the beginning and end of all things, and thus a sense of unity or completeness.
